About Cerebral Goo

UPDATE: The podcasts have been removed from our previous host and have not been transferred to a new location yet, and may never be. The demand for our content was fledging, and if we’re being honest, was never really more than a trickle. We’ve written a blog post here to explain more. If you want to know more, keep reading. If not, thanks for stopping by.

Cerebral Goo was determined to provide entertaining, fun, sometimes serious and or thought provoking content for our visitors. Cerebral Goo content is created and delivered by two, often self-depreciating middle-aged siblings, Salty and Moose.

Like many things, Cerebral Goo was born out of the COVID-19 pandemic. We found a desire within ourselves to find an outlet for open, honest, and sometimes controversial discussion about life in general. We realized that our discussions aptly applied to others in our generation and beyond – many are experiencing the same things and having the same thoughts we are – and decided that we should record these conversations. As a result the Cerebral Goo Podcast was born! Cerebral Goo is a safe space for such discussion.

We’ve spent an egregious amount of time researching the best way to create a podcast and how it should be properly developed and shared. What we found was that the Cerebral Goo podcast didn’t fall into the “norm” of podcasting. We’re not telling stories about one topic, or providing education on specific areas. Nor are we conventional in the sense that we both have formal recording studios. We’re thousands of miles apart from each other, have basic recording equipment, and no formal source of funding. Yet, we needed to start somewhere, and felt we needed to take the risk. So, we decided that each podcast should follow a “format” and be limited to a certain amount of time, ~30-40 minutes. After a time, we’ve realized that this rarely happens; across the the episodes, we’re averaging about 40 minutes. And, while we use the term “format” loosely, there is a clear beginning, middle, and end to each.

Our topics are based on our life experiences; sometimes from the previous week, or what’s been fermenting in our Cerebral Goo. Of course, certain topics deserve more time, so some topics may be split between more than one episode, or if necessary, a single podcast may go longer than our target time of 30-40 minutes or less. No topic is off limits, and topics often revolve around what’s going on in our world and as such, our lives.

With these things in mind, we should mention that our podcasts don’t always meet the quality standards of a professional podcast. While we do spend a good amount of time editing them to make for a more enjoyable listening experience, they’re not perfect.

Our goals are to have discussion and sometimes debate with each other revolving around events, popular thoughts, conspiracies, home-life, family, work, and current events. Regarding that last topic, it’s important to note that we sometimes record podcasts well in advance of release, and due to the recent acceleration of current events, some podcast topics may seem old news; though often, no less relevant. We have opinions on most topics. They are our opinions and are not assumed to reflect the opinions of our listeners or audience. In fact, we invite our audience, often referred to by us as goobers, to engage with us via our social media outlets, or here on cerebralgoo.com. We are 100% open to other opinions and ideas as long as they are not filled with hate or or hostility. We will block any and all such engagement.

Why the name “Cerebral Goo”? Well, according to the dictionary, “goo” is defined as a sticky or slimy substance, or sickly sentiment. “Cerebral” is defined as of the cerebrum of the brain, or  intellectual rather than emotional or physical. Put ’em together and our take is that you get the stuff that makes up the perception of life. The goo is not formal or tangible, it’s everything and nothing at the same time; much like what we discuss.

Cerebral Goo is not meant to be an academic source, nor are our discussions necessarily 100% accurate. Guess what? We’re human. We discuss our thoughts and personal stances on certain topics. We try to back them up, and may sometimes fall short. We do however try to research any points of fact that we make, and will do our best to provide our references along with the podcast description on the podcast page. Though, we may miss one.

Content Warning: Cerebral Goo is intended for mature audiences. While some of what we discuss may be suitable for younger audiences, most of it is not. As Salty has said “I wouldn’t want my 13 year old stumbling upon the Cerebral Goo podcast and hear things that she can’t process appropriately and then be asking me (Salty) about them.” That would be problematic. So, here it is: The Cerebral Goo Podcast is intended for mature audiences, 18 years old or older. With that said, those over 65 are duly warned.

Ultimately, please remember that Cerebral Goo exists for entertainment purposes only. The opinions presented in our podcast, blog or any other medium are our own. We don’t claim anything beyond that, nor do we claim complete accuracy of our statements, or that anything we say is based in known fact. We try our best, but in the end, we’re not always going to be right.

If you’re reading this, and have gotten this far, we hope you listen to and enjoy our Cerebral Goo podcast. It is, after all, for your enjoyment and to perhaps spark something in your Cerebral Goo that ignites a positive fire. If you have questions, comments, needs, wants, or worries you can:
